Bosley hair transplant review | What i Discovered

Who are Bosley

Bosley is an American hair restoration specialist clinic, which has been established for more than 40 years.

They claim on their website that they have performed over 300,000 hair restoration procedures; which is an enormous number.

As well the US, Bosely have branches in over 60 countries around the world.

What services do Bosley offer?

According to their website, Bosley offer the following hair restoration procedures

  • Surgical hair restoration (both FUE & FUT methods)
  • Eyebrows restoration
  • Scalp micro-pigmentation
  • Trigen + with PRP (platelet-rich plasma)
  • Low level laser therapy.

Cost

Firstly, Bosley have an excellent page educating the reader on the general nuisances of hair transplant cost.

A big thumbs up for that!

But they don’t actually give you a cost, and i think this is fair.

Because no two people are the same when it comes to hair transplants.  Some people will need lots of grafts, some fewer grafts.

So how can you give a blanket cost?

You need to have a consultation to get an estimated cost.

Customer reviews

Trustpilot

At the time of writting this article Bosley have 157 reviews on Trustpilot.

They are currently rated at 2.6 stars out of 5.

This is a “poor” rating.

Let’s analyse the breakdown of this rating further.

76% of the ratings for Bosley were “excellent”, which mkes it a surprise that overall rating is “poor”.

But further digging reveals they have a “bad” rating of 10%, a “poor” rating of 3% and an “average” rating of 6%.

Clearly a significant minority of people don’t rate Bosley highly, and this is what brings down their overall score on Trustpilot.

The reviews that rated Bosley as “excellent” commented on the professional service they received and the care they experienced from the entire team.

current reviews on Trustpilot for Bosley

There were lots of very specific reviews that named the location of the branch and also named the specific team members who the reviewer dealt with.

These reviews came across as genuine.

Looking at reviews that rated Bosley “poor” or “bad”, there two main issued raised by the reviewers.

Firstly, that the prices were outrageously high with a few up sells.  And secondly, that the customer service was poor. A few reviewers, even named the specific team member they dealt with.

Bosley hair restoration complaints and lawsuits

There is a significant number of official complaints and lawsuits against Bosley – there is no denying that.

There is even a website dedicated to compiling complaints against Boseley.

I go in more detail into the llegations of hair transplants that went wrong with Boseley in this article:

Conclusion

Bosley is a well established hair restoration clinic.  There is no doubt that there are plenty of satisfied clients with their service.

They have a good range of hair loss products

But there are also a significant portion on dissatisfied clients, as well as public lawsuits against Bosley.

There is also a particular concern about excessively high prices.

Overall, i think there are better clinics in the US, Canada and Europe than Bosley.

LONGEVITA GOOD AND BAD REVIEW

Longevita Review | Read Before You Book

Company Background

After 3 weeks of researching Longevita.

Here is a summary of what i discovered.

Who are they?

Longevita are a company based in the UK,  who arrange hair transplants in Turkey through their network of clinics and surgeons.

Longevita don’t just do hair transplants, they do various other procedures but in this article we will focus on their hair transplant activities.

                   Longevita London offices

How long have they been established?

The company was incorporated in the UK in 2012;  but their website was registered in 2018.

So the company is 7 years old,  and is well established off line.

Off course bad companies don’t usually last for 7 years, so this is a good sign.

Who are their surgeons?

There are three surgeons listed on the company’s website,  they are:

  • Yasemin Turgut
  • Sevgi Uzun
  • Mehmetcan Polat

Yaesmin Turgut

sevgi ozun

Longevita surgeons
The 3 surgeons listed on Longevita’s website

In my research  I couldn’t find much information on any of these surgeons.

Particularly, In terms of their background and work.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, because certain professionals just work away from the glare of social media.

You shouldn’t have many worries that these are legitimate professionals.  Turkey has a strong and well regulated medical field.

Before & After hair transplant Results

The results gallery on the website are very good overall.

But there are some sub-standard results (see below)

The thickness and the quality of the hairlines are excellent.

I  like the variety of clients,.  They have people of various ages and hair types.

I also like how they respect the client’s  privacy by covering up their face – this is the sign of an ethically run clinic.

They clearly understand the basics confidentiality.

The only downside is that the pictures are partially obscured by the company’s logo.

I also did not see many results featuring women Or  people of African or Asian descent.

Off course,  no clinic can claim to have 100% success,  but if these results are anything to go by, then Longevita delivers good results for some clients.

longevita hair before and after
An excellent result for this client. He was probably a Norwood 4 in terms of hair loss severity (moderate). He was particularly receding over his left temple. We can’t see what the crown is like. The end result is an excellent hairline and density. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t tell us how many grafts he has had but i suspect its a substantial number given the superb density.
longevita hair transplant before and after analysis
I am not too thrilled with this result. The client was probably a Norwood 5-6. But his end result, particularly at the hairline, is too thin. The picture may have been taken before the full growth potential was reached, so let’s hope the client’s density improved. Looking at his donor potential, he actually appears to have very good donor hair at the sides.

Longevita clinic's Pros [Good Reviews]

  1. The company arranges everything for you.

This popularly known as the “package hair transplant”

This includes the procedure,  flights, hotels , transfers ,  and aftercare.

off course you can do all this yourself,  but if you don’t have the time I’m then this service might be for you.

However if You are an experienced traveller, it will be cheaper for you to arrange the transport and hotels.

  1.  They “guarantee” the lowest prices.

I am slightly uncomfortable with this,  because with hair transplants, price should not be a top priority.

The final result should always be your number one priority.

I am also uncomfortable with the price they quote on the sales page.   Firstly, because the price varies for every client, and secondly because it just looks too low.

The danger is that people will see this price and they will expect to have a full head of hair for that price,  which is totally unrealistic.

Update:

I subsequently worked out (a few weeks after initially writing this article) the reason they can offer these low prices is because the company is subsidised by the Turkish government –  according to the website anyway.

So the “price guarantee” makes sense now.

Longevita website content
Longevita website truly has some terrific educational content.

2. They offer a 12 month interest free finance option

This is a very handy feature for people who want to spread the cost of the hair transplant over months.

I think this will make hair transplants more affordable to more people, which is almost always a good thing.

3. Incredible website

Now this is something I added as a bonus,  because I was really impressed with their website.

it is incredibly educational.

Someone who knows nothing about hair transplants can find the information on this website extremely useful.

I also like how the website is simply laid out with all the key information that a client might want to see.

The information on the website is also very accurate from what I can see,

Whoever put the contents of the website together has a deep and thorough knowledge around the subject of hair transplantation.

What techniques do they use?

Mostly the FUE technique.

This technique relies on the plucking of individual hair follicles from the donor area,  and it’s usually the gold standard in hair transplantation now.

it also delivers natural results with very minimal scarring.

Longevita clinic's cons [Bad Reviews]

In general, i didn’t come across many horror storie involving Longevita’s hair transplant clinic.

But there are some bad reviews.

Longevista customer reviews
There are plenty of reviews on Longevita’s own website.

Having said that, there were a few cases of people who were not happy with either the results or the service they received.

On Trustpilot, Longevita have:

  • a 94% “Excellent rating”
  • and a 3% “bad” rating

These are clearly impressive numbers.  But let’s explore the “bad” reviews.

The main complaint was over poor results

One person commented how his results look worse than before the hair transplant.

On the main hair loss forums,  my impression was that the clinic was well rated;  but I was slightly suspicious that some of the people commenting on this clinic might have been people paid to promote it.

I say this because there was a few cases where the same names were popping up in threads related to Longevita.

Afro hair

I saw very few clients with afro-type hair on Longevita’s website or in my research.

So i cannot recommend them as “specialists” in african type hair.

if you have afro-type hair, i suggest you have a detailed consultation to assess if you are a candidate for a hair transplant and discuss your options.

I provide this service, which you can book here:

Book a consultation with me

Conclusion

Overall, I was impressed with longevity during my research.

They are competitively priced as they are subsidised by the Turkish government.

Their website suggests they are a professional and customer-focused outfit.

The content on their website is probably the best i have seen on any hair loss clinic.

On the downside, there were cases of people complaining about the service or the results.   And some of the photo gallery results on their own website looked below par.

Overall , my impression is that they are a good clinic but not one of the very best.

If you are thinking of  hair transplant and you are struggling to decide on a clinic, i highly you recommend you have an independent assessment first.

Why independent?

Because clinics have an interest in getting you booked in, with them.

You can book an independent assessment with me

best hair transplant Turkey

3 of the best hair transplant results from Turkey

About Author

In this article, we will analyse 3 successful hair transplants from Turkey.

CASE STUDY 1

factors which determine cost of hair transplants in Turkey

This is a 43 year old gentleman who had 4000 grafts done in Turkey, 2015.

He had fairly advanced baldness to start with.  As you can see, his entire front to mid-scalp was almost completely bald.  But in his favour, he does have an excellent head shape for the “bald and proud” shaved look.

The final result is sensational.

The thickness is what strikes you straight away.  From where he started it’s remarkable.  To achieve this thickness, you need a lot of grafts and a skilled surgeon to pack them in, and it appears this patient had both.

Well, he definitely had the volume of grafts because 4000 is a relatively high number.

I also love the hair line.  It wasn’t brought down too much which would’ve looked rather silly on a mature man like him.  The artistry that went into the hairline is terrific.

We don’t really know the technique deployed in his procedure, but it’s probably FUE which is the most widely used for clients with his hair type.

Overall, this chap will be delighted with his hair transplant.  We don’t know what his crown, and donor areas look like but the front looks excellent.

CASE STUDY 2

Our second case is a younger man of 27.  His hair loss was milder than the first client, but he still had over 5000 grafts.  A rather aggressive treatment but all worth it, as his final result is stunning.

The hairline is completely filled in.  The hair is long and luscious.  He is well past the shedding phase by the looks of it.

The design of the hairline is excellent.  The clinic resisted the temptation to bring it down too much which would’ve probably altered his looks a bit too much, and made his hair transplant rather obvious.

CASE STUDY 3

hair transplant result turkey

Our third candidate probably has the most  extensive balding. He must be at least a Norwood 4 or 5.   and he wasn’t thinning, he was actually almost completely bald.

Looking at his results,  the first thing that strikes us Is the incredible  thickness. Sometimes when severely balding people get hair transplants,  the final result is a wispy thin look; where you can still see the person’s scalp in areas.

With this gentleman,  there are no such issues. his hair is thick as grass with no gaps whatsoever.   I’m guessing he must have had at least 1 Mega session or two smaller sessions to achieve this incredible level of thickness.

He may also have been is slightly lucky,  in that he had thick hair type which gives better looking density.

Usually people of African descent, with their curly hair type have this,  but you still find people of other races with naturally thicker hair coverage.

I also love the artistry of the hairline.   Firstly the hairline is quite high which I think is entirely appropriate and natural.

The hairline actually reminds me of a 1950s movie Star!

I think this client would look superb with a hint of Brylcream!

As I have always said;  hair transplantation is not just a procedure –  it is an art form.

I hope these case studies have proved useful and shown you the positive side of hair transplants.

Disclaimer:

The success of these hair transplants will have no impact on your chances of a successful hair transplant.

Allthough all effort has been taken to check the facts of each of the featured cases, we were not able to contact the original clients directly to verify these accounts.

turkey vs uk hair transplants

Turkey or UK hair transplant? Where should you go?

About Author

If you are from the UK, in London, Manchester or Birmingham areas; you have 2 big hair transplant options.

Turkey and the UK.

In this article we will compare them and come up with a winner!

  1. Price

There is no doubt that turkey is cheaper.

Simple easy one to start with!

In a recent survey,  it was estimated that turkey is up to 25% – 35% cheaper than the equivalent procedure in the UK –  even outside of London,  such as in Birmingham and Manchester.

With a weakening pound sterling,  the saving is probably not as much now,  but Turkey remains a cheaper destination.

WINNER : TURKEY

2. Quality of hair transplants

This is extremely hard to assess,  because anyone can claim anything on the internet;  and no one can really verify anything with 100% certainty.

Having said that,  the consensus is that Turkey provides  superior hair transplant results.

In my extensive reading of forums, i get the impression Turkey does indeed deliver better quality results.  But this is just a personal impression during my research.

You can still get amazing hair transplants in the UK,  but I personally think the number of clinics that can deliver these amazing results in the UK  is a lot less than in Turkey.

Since the early 2000s , Turkey has been gaining popularity as the number one destination for hair transplants.   Around 5000 men and women go to turkey every year to have work done.

People wouldn’t go to Turkey for nearly 20 years if they were delivering poor results.

It’s simple logic.

WINNER: TURKEY

3. Convenience

When we say convenience we mean the hassle of travelling  and staying in hotels. and also being away from family.

I am not going to include taking time off for work because you will do that regardless of where you go.

The flight from the UK to Turkey is around 4 hours,  so it’s not a long haul flights by any means.   but you have to book a hotel, and you have to arrange transfers.

You also have to do all the usual for preparations of travel.

if your hair transplant is in the UK,  you can even potentially go back home the same day.  Although, more realistically your clinic will want to follow up with you for at least  24 hours after the procedure.  You may book a hotel for one night but apart from that it’s hassle-free compared to going to Turkey.

So even though Turkey is a short journey from the UK,  a hair transplant at home is more convenient for most people.

WINNER : UK

  1. Customer Service

I must confess I know a lot more about Turkish clinics on this front.

And their customer service is absolutely fantastic!

Firstly,  most clinics will give you your own “manager”.   This is basically someone who works for the clinic,  and whose job it is to look after you for your entire trip.

So this person typically collects you from the airport,  takes you to your hotel, arranges the transfers from the hotel to the clinic and brings you back to your hotel after the procedure.

Sometimes they even take you on a tour of the city.

If you have any problems you can call them at any time.

And needless to say, all of them speak superb English.

Most clinics in Turkey also offer  all-inclusive package,  where they arrange your flights, transfers and hotels; so you don’t have to do any of that.

The reason we know no so much about Turkish clinics and their customer service,  is because they and their clients, share lots of content on social media and on forums

Offcourse, clinics encourage clients to share their experiences online.  But i genuinely remember very few cases where clients who had work done in Turkey complained about the customer service.

Even those who were last than happy with the results, rarely criticised the customer service.

Unfortunately,  UK clinics do not share much on social media.   Although if I had to guess I would say their customer service is equally outstanding,

Because when people are paying thousands of pounds, they demand perfect customer service.  and if they don’t get it they complain, particularly on social media.

And I haven’t really seen huge amount of complaints about UK clinics online.

WINNER : DRAW

CONCLUSION

Turkey edges it 2-1 !

So it’s clear,  Turkey wins this  by it’s cheaper prices and better quality results.

The UK remains more convenient for people living in the UK off course.   But when you are paying thousands of pounds, I don’t think convenience is at the top of people’s priorities

9 critical factors in achieving the best hair transplant result

About Author

Here are 9 ways to ensure you have the best hair transplant result possible

  1.  Choose  surgeons from Western Europe, Turkey or North America

Historically these are the areas with the best surgeons and the best results.

In the last 15 years,  Turkey has overtaken both Western Europe and North America as the destination of choice for cost-effective hair transplants.

The reason Turkey is so popular is that it combines high quality work with extremely affordable prices.

it is estimated a hair transplant in Turkey can be up to 25%-35% cheaper than the equivalent hair transplants in the rest of Europe and North America.

25%-35%  is a huge amount when thousands of euros and dollars are at stake.

2. Check your surgeons credentials

This Means things like medical qualifications,  registration status, specialist training and track record.

You should also check their membership of professional organisations.

For example many hair transplant surgeons are members of the International hair restoration surgeons Society. Although this is not a compulsory membership it puts the surgeon in good light in terms of his or her professional credentials.

hair transplant success tips

3. Ensure your WHOLE procedure will be with the lead surgeon of the clinic

In  many clinics,  the actual hair transplant procedure is done by technicians,  and the surgeon only supervises them,  perhaps only making the initial incisions.

I think you should only go for clinics where the lead surgeon does your entire procedure.

The reason I say this is because this is such a crucial procedure for you,  which you paid a lot of money for, and you want the best chance to have your best results.

I am not saying technicians don’t do an incredible job,  but it’s the surgeon who is the most skilled person in the clinic,  and that’s the person that can guarantee you the best results.

Of course if you have a procedure where the technicians do the bulk of the work,   it will likely be a lot cheaper for you; but I think you rather pay more to have the surgeon do all of your work – and perhaps pay extra for the peace of mind.

4) Avoid very cheap offers

Never go for a hair transplant that seems very cheap.   There are so many horror stories of people who did this and were left with  horrible results.

A hair transplant  is a costly procedure to do.  It is technical and laborious.   And it requires some very advanced equipment.   So naturally, it is an expensive procedure to do.

So if you find a clinic offering rock bottom prices,  you have to wonder where they are cutting corners. and when it comes to a head transplants you do not want any corners to be cut.

You want to get it right first time as much as possible.

So my advice to you is if you do not have  a realistic budget; wait until you do.

5) Don’t be tight!

Do not have the mindset that you are looking for the cheapest hair transplant.   This mindset has got a lot of people in too deep trouble before.

So I want you to dismiss this out of your mind immediately.

But this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have a budget.   you definitely should.

But your budget should be dictated by your research.

you should research the market carefully and that will tell you what a realistic budget for your hair transplant is.

in my opinion this is the very best way to start thinking about how to budget for your hair transplant.

Your question should be “How much money do i need?”

NOT “How much money do i have?”

 6) Go for smaller sessions

A session  means one hair transplant procedure.  A session can be as small as 2000 grafts inserted,  or it can be a huge one with 5000 or 6000 grafts done.

If your clinic advises that you need lots of grafts,  I would recommend you spread them over two or three sessions;  rather than pack them all in into one mega session.

Because remember,  your procedure is being done by humans.   and humans get tired ;Which can result in a decline in quality.

And and the other reason you want to have smaller sessions,  is that it gives you you an idea ear about the clinic’s quality of work.   Like “a taster”.

if the first small session goes well,  then you’ll be more confident to go back to that clinic for more work in the future.

This is a much better strategy committing fully in your first procedure to a clinic you haven’t used before.

Your prior research is all well and good, but its when the scalpel meets the scalp, that you see how good a clinic is.

7)   Know your hair type

This will guide your research And play an important role in the clinic you choose.

The majority of Surgeons are good at transplanting Straight hair.   like that of Caucasian and Asian hair.

But if your hair type is more curly  like that of African Americans; you probably need to go to a surgeon that specialises in this type of hair.

In fact your hair type may also determine the  technique used in your procedure. Generally, straight type hair is best suited to the the follicular unit transplantation (FUE)  technique. While the  strip method can work very well for curly hair types.

8) Read as many review as possible

But keep an open mind.

Unless you see a consistent stream of bad reviews you should not run away from a clinic.   Even the very best clinics do not have a 100% successful track record.

You can find reviews in forums,  on Facebook, Reddit and google.

But bear in mind that some are fake reviews by marketers promoting certain clinics.   And some actively post negative reviews to undermine a rival clinic.

9) Get multiple quotes

This is absolutely vital.

Firstly this gives you an idea about the number of grafts that you may need.   ideally all clinics should quote you the same number of hair grafts.

if one clinic seems to be either much higher or much lower than the rest,  then avoid that clinic, or at least ask them why their quote is so inconsistent with the rest.

Secondly, this gives you an idea about your budget.  if all the clinics quotes you you $4,000, then you know that most likely this is going to be your budget.

So never get one quote and go with that
