Sule Hair Transplant Clinic | Is it any good?

This is a comprehensive review of Sule clinic’s hair transplant service.

Location and how to get to the clinic

Where is the facility located?

Sule Hair Transplant Clinic is located in Istanbul in the İSÜ Medical Park Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital –  a teaching hospital affiliated with a university.

Full address: Merkez, Çukurçeşme Cd. No:59 D:No: 57, 34250 Gaziosmanpaşa/İstanbul, Turkey.

What do you need to get into the country?

If you have a valid UK/US passport, you can fly into Turkey without a visa and stay for up to 90 days.

However, citizens of mainland European countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal can jet into Turkey with only their national IDs.

For other countries, more VISA information can be found here.

How can you get to the clinic?

After obtaining the proper paperwork, you can fly into the country via Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

The clinic offers packages that include transport to and from the facility as well as accommodation for your stay in Turkey.

Clinic contact information

You can reach out to the clinic via their website: https://sule-hairtransplant.com/

You can also call or contact them on WhatsApp using numbers +90 542 838 77 79 and +90 507 391 41 26

They also have an email address: info@sule-hairtransplant.com

Cost and Services

What is the price for the hair transplant services?

The clinic doesn’t openly display their prices on their website.

They insist that the price can only be calculated after a consultation to determine the extent of your hair loss.

However, looking through review sites on the internet reveals that the price ranges from $1,800 to $2,000 – for a 2000 hair graft.

Nonetheless, these sites don’t elaborate on how this pricing is structured.

Personally, i would agree with the clinic that prices should only be given after a consultation to assess your needs.

What procedures do they offer?

When it comes to hair, the clinic offers several hair loss procedures.

These include:

  • Hair transplant for both men and women
  • Beard transplant
  • Moustache transplant
  • Eyebrow transplant

What other procedures can you find at the clinic?

Apart from the hair transplant operation, the facility has branched out to offer dental and aesthetics procedures.

Dental services offered

These include:

  • Hollywood Smile
  • Zirconium crowns
  • Teeth whitening
  • Dental implants

Aesthetic services offered

These include:

  • Rhinoplasty (nose job)
  • Tummy tuck
  • Liposuction

So if you need a hair transplant plus another procedure, you are in luck!

Sule clinic offers hair transplants and other cosmetic procedures. However, don't expect prices to be quoted to you until after you had a consultation ( before a hair transplant procedure)

Hair transplant Surgeons and techniques

Who are the main surgeons at the clinic?

Being a university hospital, one would expect that the clinic would want to show off the medical brains behind the operation.

However, the website doesn’t mention any surgeons.

The clinic was founded by Şule Ölmez.  This has been confirmed by Sule themselves in an email to me.

What techniques are used for the hair transplant procedures?

The clinic carries out 3 hair transplant techniques.

These are:

  • FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
  • Sapphire FUE using sapphire blades
  • DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) with the Choi pen

Website and social media review

The website

The website is clean and laid out well enough.

It has all the information you would need to know about the procedures and how they are done.

You can change the language from English to Brazilian Portuguese, German, Spanish and French.

Perhaps the most significant blemish on the site is that some of the copy has glaring spelling errors and grammatical mistakes.

It also has just one blog post from 2016, detailing the transplant process.

Social media

The clinic has an Instagram account with a following of just over 62,000 followers.

The majority of their posts show before and after photos of their clients. The stories also feature some results in the dental and aesthetics department.

Goog reviews analysis

Sule have 460 reviews on Google.

They average a perfect 5 stars.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the reviews:

  • 3 reviews gave Sule one star – “bad” rating
  • 1 reviewer gave Sule 3 stars – “Average” rating
  • 3 reviewers gave Sule a 4 star – “very good” rating.
  • 453 reviewers gave Sule maximum 5 stars – i.e. “Excellent”.

The good reviews were very complimentary about the professionalism of the staff.

Everything from the pick up from the airport, to the hotel and finally the procedure itself.

But all these reviews were done right after the operation.

So we don’t really know if these people will feel the same way about their hair growth in 8-12 months time.

Let’s explore the “bad” reviews a bit more.

All were non-English speakers so i am sure something was lost in translation with their reviews.

There was a Brazilian gentleman and a few German-speaking men.

The main complaint was that they were not seeing results after their procedure.

And when they tried to contact the clinic, they were either ignored or even blocked.

Some of the reviewers questioned the companies’ ethics.

One gentleman who gave the clinic an “average” rating was slightly put-off by the lack of follow up.

Sule are active on social media, especially Instagram. Their Google reviews are exceptional, but they are not long term reviews of actual hair growth after the procedure (common cross all clinics)

Update from Sule

I received an email from Sule, where they told that they have been working very hard at contacting the customers who left the very few bad reviews.

They told me they successfully resolved these client’s isues and the reviews will be taken down shortly.

This is excellent news for these clients.

Before and after pictures

The before and after photos are as well done as they are numerous.

In graphic detail, they show the client before the transplant and immediately after the follicles have been transplanted.

They also show two photos at different stages after the operation.

sule hair transplant before and after pictures
Caucasian client with moderate hair loss, perhaps a Norwood 4. His final result is excellent. I particularly like the design. You would not know he has had a hair transplant!
sule hair transplant before and after pictures
Spectacular result! It almost looks like a hair system in density. Considering the extent of this client’s hair loss this is a remarkable result. We will have to give the clinic the benefit of the doubt and assume this is genuinely a good hair transplant
sule hair transplant before and after pictures
A very stylish and well-designed hair line on this client. The density is good too. Natural looking result.

Overall, there is some great work on this display here.

But always remember, that every clinic only shows its best results!

You can see the photo gallery for yourself here:

Sule before and after gallery

Conclusion

The package they offer is a great one especially if you haven’t been to Turkey before and can’t speak the language.

Not only do they offer transport and accommodation, but they also provide a translator.

Basing on the photo gallery alone, they seem to be doing a good job.

The results show thick and dense hair as well as restored hairlines.

However, some of the reviews are cause for concern. The claims of below-par experiences and disappointing results might point to declining standards as the clinic handles all the other aspects that don’t concern hair transplants.

And the overwhelmingly positive Google reviews are very encouraging.  Although the reviews are focused more on the experience of the transplant procedure itself, rather than long term results.

Overall,  the positives outweigh the negatives.

The consensus, therefore, is that Sule Hair Transplant Clinic provides good enough service at a reasonably good price.

I hope you found this review useful.

Hair of istanbul clinic review

Hair of Istanbul review | Worrying discovery

In this article, we take a look at one of the most high profile hair transplant clinics in Turkey; Hair of Istanbul.

To take any bias and preconceptions out of the equation, we set out a few criteria to base our review on.

This article has been updated for 2021 with some major news – see below

Cirteria we used for this review

  • Location
  • Price
  • Main hair transplant surgeons
  • Hair transplant techniques
  • State and quality of their website
  • Before and after pictures
  • How to contact them
  • Feedback from clients across various platforms
  • What their Instagram page is like

Location of Hair of Istanbul

The very name of the clinic gives this away. The hair transplant facility is located in Istanbul, Turkey.

The physical address:

Ataköy 7-8-9-10. Kısım Mh. Çobançeşme E5 Yan Yol Cad. No:20-1/3 Ataköy Towers A Blok Kat:1 Bakırköy, Istanbul / Turkey.

hair of istanbul review

How to get to Hair Of Istanbul

If you aren’t a resident of Turkey, you might have to fly into the country to access the services of the hair transplant clinic.

For UK and US citizens, all you need is a valid passport to enter the country.

Your passport also grants you a 90-day stay in the country without requiring a visa.

If you have signed up for the Exclusive Service Package, you are entitled to transport from the airport to a hotel booked for you.

The clinic’s partners also shuttle you anywhere in Istanbul.

Hair Of Istanbul Cost

The facility’s website doesn’t state the price of the procedure.

If you want to know what they charge, you need to send a picture of your scalp so that they can determine the number of grafts you might need.

However, looking through other online sources, we estimate the clinic charges around $4000-$8000 per 2000 grafts.

This figure was obtained through client’s feedback on forums.

It is by no means the cheapest clinic in Turkey.

Procedures offered by Hair Of Istanbul

The clinic offers the following:

  • Hair transplant for men
  • Hair transplant for women
  • Beard transplant
  • Scalp scar treatment
  • Hair transplant aftercare

Doctors at Hair Of Istanbul

The website doesn’t give any specifics about their surgeons. All that they mention is that they have a “qualified medical team”

Additional online research reveals that the key person is CEO Mehmet Fatih Akdemir.

His LinkedIn page claims he has skills in hair transplantation.

However, we can’t find any medical qualifications on the profile.

The only industry knowledge we can see is business strategy, planning and management.

Hair transplant techniques at Hair Of Istanbul

Hair of Istanbul utilizes FUE (follicular unit extraction) in all their hair transplant procedures.

We didn’t see any mention of FUT or strip technique.

On their social media, they have posted some videos of the actual procedure (we will come to that later)

What does their website look like?

The website has a refined dark theme.

There are several images of Roman statues with full heads of hair, giving the site a distinctly Turkish feel from the days of Constantinople.

The site is also available in 7 languages including English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian.

However, the English version is riddled with glaring grammatical issues in the copy.

The blog section might still be under construction because it is filled with articles that have nothing to do with hair transplants.

Before and after results

Hair of Istanbul doesn’t have a photo gallery on its website. However, the Before and After tab links to their Instagram.

Hair of Istanbul Instagram

They do have a large Instagram presence. Their account has 1.2 million followers.

They also post regularly.

The majority of the content is before and after photos of their clients. Additionally, there are a few videos of the surgeon carrying out transplant procedures.

The photos are detailed, showing the before, immediately after and the various stages of growth. The majority of the photos are of Caucasian and Asian men of all ages.

However, there are a couple of men of African descent as well as a woman of the same heritage.

Analysis of before and after pictures

In the case below, the subject has what appears to be Grade 3 male pattern baldness according to the Hamilton Norwood scale.

After FUE, the results are impressive, showing natural-looking dense growth.

Below is a man who had slightly more advanced hair loss, and he has again ended up with a very good result.  Notice how the hairline remains high, which is perfectly natural with his age and facial features.

Hair of istanbul results review

However, we noticed ALL the results only show the hairline – never the crown.

What do the previous clients have to say about the clinic?

The facility’s website doesn’t have any testimonials from previous clients where we might have gotten first-hand comments about the experience.

Nevertheless, we looked through some online review sites and forums.

Let’s take a look at the positives and negatives.

Positive reviews

The clinic has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating out of 446 Google Reviews.

On Hair Transplant Turkey Reviews, the clinic has a score of 7.3.

Previous clients were happy with:

  • Dedicated hair aftercare and follow-up
  • Translators for all the different languages
  • Limited damage and scarring at the donor section of the head
  • The hotels provided are of high quality
  • The opulent interior

Bad reviews

Google Reviews has 6 negative comments about the clinic.

Other forums also have some negative reviews.

Below we list what these clients found unimpressive:

  • Relatively higher price
  • Booking more than 3 people on the same day for the same procedure
  • Some were disappointed with the results when they didn’t match the quality of those shown on the Instagram page.
  • Inability to consult with the surgeon before the procedure

2021 Update | Major News

Having been speaking to people who consulted with Hair of Istanbul, an issue has come up.

And it is a major one!

Firstly, it seems that hair of istanbul are very selective over who they select for hair transplants.

They only want people with extremely thick donor hair, and they pretty much reject anyone who doesn’t fit this mould.

Why?

Probably because they want to keep splashing outrageously thick hairlines all over their social media.

It is a great marketing tool.

But at what expense?

Not everybody who wants a hair transplant has ridiculously thick donor hair.

In fact, the reason people pay so much for hair transplants is for the surgeon to use his skills to transform clients with weaker donor hair into success stories.

Secondly, having looked at the graft numbers they quote clients, i am suspect they over-harvest.

I.e. they take more grafts than is necessary.

Why is this a big deal?

well, because none of us have an endless supply of donor hair.  If the donor hair is depleted you can forget about future hair transplants.

And because of this habit of over-harvesting, they need clients with very thick donor hair.

It all

Conclusion

There were many positives with Hair of Istanbul.

Their customer service is exceptional judging from the reviews on Google.

The before and after images show good work.

Having said that, it was concerning they only show the frontal hairline results.  Never the crown.

We were also concerned that there was no named surgeons to be found anywhere.

And finally, the issue about over-harvesting and turning down perfectly good hair transplant candidates is another worry.

Overall, there are enough doubts for me NOT to recommend this clinic for now

PS: i contacted the clinic to give them an opportunity to put their side of the story, but they declined

Best hair transplant clinics in Manchester

Many people experience different kinds of hair loss. This isn’t only limited to balding on the head but also extends to eyebrows as well as beards.

In this piece, we take a look at some of the clinics in Manchester that have made a name for themselves in the hair transplant industry.

In simple terms, which are the best hair transplant clinics in Manchester, England?

We will analyse the types of hair transplants they do, how effective their services are and how much it may cost you.

Read on

What is the cost of a hair transplant in Manchester?

The number of hair grafts that you will need to be transplanted determine the amount of money you’ll have to dole out.

This is the long and short of it.

Normally, clinics will use this as basis for working out the cost of your hair transplant.

Off-course every surgeon also charges for his/her price ; which can vary depending on skill and reputation.

The Norwood scale gives you an idea of the degree of your hair loss

How much does a hair transplant cost in the rest of the UK?

The cost of a hair transplant anywhere in the UK and the world at large varies depending on the degree of your hair loss.

Additionally, the price also hinges on the kind of procedure that the surgeon believes is best to rectify your hair loss.

Typically FUE procedures tend to be more pricey than FUT.

It can cost you an average of €7100 for 2000 grafts inserted using the FUE (follicular unit extraction) procedure in the UK.  This is an estimated figure.

In Ireland, the same procedure for the same number of grafts can set you back €12,000.

FUT BLACK HAIR
FUT or “the strip” technique tends to be the cheapest hair transplant option, but it doesn’t suit every client

Hair transplant price range in Manchester

Some clinics in Manchester charge per graft. On the lower end, you might spend £3 per graft. Therefore, you’ll end up shelling out £6000 for 2000 grafts. For 5000 grafts, you’ll need £15,000 to cover the costs.

Off course, not all clinics charge the same price/graft.  We took £3 just to illustrate the maths.

Prices at “high-end” clinics

In top-end clinics, the price is higher for their premium services.

They usually charge around £5 per graft. So, for a 2000-graft procedure, you’ll pay £10,000 whereas a 5000-graft procedure will set you back £25,000.

From what we have seen, the cost of a hair transplant in Manchester can range from as little as £6000 all the way to £25,000 for a 2000 graft procedure.

But let’s stress, that clinics rarely share their prices and research in this area is extremely sparse, so these numbers will not be very accurate for everyone.

Which clinics offer payment plans for hair transplant procedures in Manchester?

Many of the clinics in the UK and Manchester, in particular, offer their services to celebrities and ordinary people alike.

However, the latter group might not be able to fork out the entire amount of money needed for the procedure upfront.

Therefore, some clinics find it good business to offer financial plans where the clientele can pay in instalments.

In this article, our main clinics of interest include Farjo Hair Institute, Harley Street Hair Clinic and Crown Clinic.

Of the trio, Harley street and Crown clinic appear to offer payment plans for their clients.

However, Farjo Hair Institute doesn’t include pricing on their website.

An interested client needs to first book a consultation. Therefore, we cannot determine if they offer payment plans for their clientele.

On its website, Crown Clinic goes into fine details about its instalments and finance plans.

The hair clinic partners with specialist finance provider Medifinance to offer interest-free finance for payments with 6 or 12 months.

For payments that last more than 12 months up to 2 or 3 years, there are low-interest payment options.

Harley Street Hair Clinic offers similar payment terms.

Farjo offices in Manchester

Other clinics which may offer finance options

Other hair clinics in Manchester that we think offer finance plans include:

  • UK Hair Transplant Clinics
  • Harley St Healthcare Hair Transplant Clinics
  • The Private Clinic
  • Elite Hair Restoration
  • Vinci Hair Clinic

Reviewing 3 of the main hair clinics in Manchester

While Manchester has several hair transplant clinics, we are focusing on a trio of facilities that offer these services.

To rule out any personal bias and preconceptions about any of the clinics, we used a number of criteria to rate the hair transplant clinics.

How did we assess the clinics?

These assessment criteria include:

  • Quality of website
  • Customer feedback
  • Reviews
  • Means of contact
  • Gallery showing before and after photos
  • Mentions in the press
  • Celebrity clients
  • Price range

A review of Crown Clinic in Manchester

Crown clinic Manchester review

The website

Crown Clinic’s website has a nice layout with a comprehensive navigation bar that leads directly to the different procedures offered, the testimonials as well as ways to contact them.

Additionally, there’s information about hair transplants in general as well as specifics about the various procedures for men and women plus eyelash and beard treatments.

Each page on the website has a telephone number and link to arrange a consultation.

Celebrity clients

What stands out on the homepage is the image rotator of the several notable celebrity clients. This gives a sense of trust in the clinic i suppose.

These celebrities include football legend Didi Hamann, Coronation Street actor Jack P. Shepherd, Calum Best and BBC’s Martin Roberts among others.

Calum best and his successful hair transplant. He has had more than one

Before and after images

Results for these procedures are clearly displayed in high definition images depicting the before and after.

Below is a patient from Crown Clinic with work done to replace hair on the crown. In the very late stages of balding, the crown was filled up with hair to make it comparatively fuller than before.

Yes the picture is a little zoomed in but only to give an idea of density.

Google customer reviews | what people said

Customer feedback on the clinic’s website is positive and longstanding from when the clinic opened in 2007.

On the company’s google reviews page they average 4.3 stars out of 5.

Total reviews at the time of writing this article were 28.

So far, these are impressive numbers.

There were 4 reviews which rated the company 1 star – this a 14% one star rating, which above my preferred 10% maximum.

These people mostly complained about the poor customer service they experienced.  And one person wasn’t happy with the hair density.

Generally, i didn’t see many complaints about the hair transplant result itself.

The positive reviews, which were the overwhelming majority, were complimentary about the customer care and their results.

All the reviews were fairly detailed and looked genuine.

I also noticed a few relatives who posted their experiences, which shows clinic relies on “word of mouth” to get customers.

Press mentions

In the press, lead surgeon Dr Shahmalak has appeared on Sky News, BBC News, tv show Embarrassing Bodies as well as radio features on BBC Radio.

He has also appeared in print media, particularly as regards to his stature as the first person to perform eyelash transplant surgery.

Cost

The website also shows the price and payment plans. For a single treatment, the price shown ranges from £1000 to £5000 at the low end – depending on graft numbers.

A review of Farjo Hair Institute

Farjo hair transplant review

Their website has a really clean look with a navigation bar that makes it easy to access all parts of the site.

You can also book a consultation on the site.

The homepage is dedicated to showing off the celebrity success stories and industry accreditation.

Celebrity clients

The clinic has worked on the likes of former Sunderland fullback and winger Micky Gray, Ashley Barnes, David Platt and EastEnders actor Shaun Williamson.

The before and after photo gallery

The site has an extensive photo gallery

Alongside the before and after photos, the clinic details the procedure each patient underwent plus the number of grafts used.

It is a nice detailed gallery that provides genuinely useful information.

Finally, we take a look at David Platt’s treatment at Farjo Hair Institute.

He presented with type 5 hair loss. The ARTAS hair transplant (procedure assisted by a robot) restored the hairline and filled up the thinning hair.

The style is conservative and elegant, but perhaps thickness could be a touch better?

Google Customer reviews

The clinic has a total of 30 Google reviews at the time of writing this article.

They average 4.3 stars, which is excellent.

They have 5 one-star rating reviews in total, which works out as 16% one star rating.

This is above the maximum 10% that i usually look for.

The people who gave one star mostly weren’t happy with the results and or customer service.

To their credit, the clinic responded to each one of those people.

The positive reviews mentioned the excellent results they achieved and the quality customer service.

There was even one client who still gave the clinic 5 stars after they advised him to postpone his procedure because his hair loss wasn’t stable – the client appreciated the clinic’s honesty.

Is the facility featured in the press?

The clinic was featured on the BBC 3 reality show “Plastic Surgery Undressed”. It also hosted the International Trichology Congress 2019.

Cost

Beard and eyebrow transplant start from £3000. Other forms of hair transplant procedures fluctuate between £2000 and £3000.

But as ever, with hair transplants, the more hair loss you have the more your hair transplant will cost.

A review of Harley Street Hair Clinic

Harley street hair clinic manchester review

The website is clean and transparent with the aura of a high-end facility.

It offers all information that you need to know. This includes the various procedures as well as detailed prices and finance options.

The clinic’s website has a graft calculator that enables you to determine how many grafts and hairs you need to correct your kind of hair loss.

So, you can probably calculate the cost of a hair transplant procedure.

Cost

The cost ranges from £3000 to £15,000 depending on the type of hair loss and the number of sessions needed to rectify it.

Google customer reviews

The clinic has a 4.9-star rating on Google Reviews at the time of writing this article.

The total reviews at the time of writing this article is 37.

The lowest rating is a single two-star rating.  All the other reviews are the maximum 5 star rating.

This is a hugely impressive rating.

People were complimentary about the results, and mostly about the professionalism of the clinic.

One name that kept coming up is “Hakeem” who customers said gave exceptional service.

 Photo gallery

The gallery contains before and after pictures, depicting the patients prior to the transplant and after the new hair had set in.

Furthermore, there are videos detailing their entire hair transplant journey.

Overall, this is a really good section of the website.

This client (below) from Harley Street Hair Clinic went in with a receding hairline in the first stages of male pattern baldness.

From the results, we can see that the hairline was restored to a natural look and the volume of hair lends itself well to easily being coiffed.

An excellent result both in design and density.

Celebrity clients

The most prominent celebrity to engage the services of this clinic is England football record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney.

How do you get in touch?

You can contact the clinic through their website, by calling their number or getting in touch through WhatsApp.

Final word on the clinic results/photos

Overall, the results of the clinics show a good level of skill.

But let’s remember these are probably their best results.

So this is not a representative of their entire pool of ex clients.

All three clinics offer their services to women as well.

Client cover a wide spectrum of ages.

When it comes to the different ethnicities, the overwhelming majority of the clients are Caucasian.

There are also a few Asian clients. However, there was hardly any clients of African origin.

Which clinic is the most impressive? (in our opinion)

Although all facilities have good results and garner positive reviews, Harley Street Hair Clinic stood out in terms of quality of work, and customer feedback.

The results were consistent and the overall result was a fuller head of hair. However, it was also the most expensive.

I suppose you get what you pay for!

Farjo Hair Institute managed to strike a fine balance between cost and good results.

Is Manchester a good destination to have a hair transplant?

If you need a hair transplant, Manchester is a very viable option.

The main reason for this is that many of the top hair clinics in London have branches in the northern city. Consequently, you do not have to go down south to work on your hair.

However, if you find hair transplants expensive in the UK, you can try Turkey where it is less costly.

Brazil and Mexico are also cheaper but the travel costs and accommodation nullify the entire point of saving.

Our personal recommendation is Turkey for an excellent balance between cost and quality.

Advanced hair studio review | is it a scam?

History

The company was established in 1976 by Carl A Howell.   so it is a well established company going for over 40 years.

They have branches across the globe,  including in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

They have numerous branches in the UK too.

Carl Howell, founder of advanced hair studio

I also noticed they offer franchise opportunities which may explain why they have been able to expand so extensively.

Their main strategy is to use celebrity clients to push their products and services,  but this has backfired on them a few times as we will see a little bit later.

One of the glossy adverts for advanced hair studio by celebrities

Men’s therapies

  1.  Non-surgical hair Fusion

From what I can gather this is is some sort of hair styling to cover up balding areas.

The website says that the  it “changes the angle of each hair” to achieve a natural looking hair loss solution.

i initially thought this was some form of hair transplantation.  Like FUE perhaps.

Until I read a post from a client who had used this service.

And that’s when it all became apparent!

This is basically a wig that is built Strand by Strand for each client.

Perhaps this is why they are able to make the claim that this “will replace your hair 100%  the way you lost it”.

A wig will certainly do that!

And I also discovered that advanced Hair Studios were  charging £55 for monthly  “haircuts”.

I am not sure why you need to cut the hair on a wig.

As far as i know the hair on a wig doesn’t grow!

This post was dated from 10 years ago,  so to be fair I am not sure if they are still  running this service.

One of the pictures published on the advanced hair studio websites. The hair does look like a wig – to me anyway.

2. Strand by Strand hair graft

This is a trademarked technique which advanced Hair Studios have patented.

It sounds like the well known of FUE technique of hair transplantation.  But there was no mention of any surgeons who are part of the staff.

 3. Strand by Strand  “Blitz”

To be honest I just wasn’t able to understand what this was.

The website said it was a combination of graft and hair Fusion,  but what does that mean?

4. Advanced Laser helmet

This is probably the most notorious “thing” that  advanced Hair Studios are famous for.

Advanced hair studio laser helmet

And not always for the right reasons!  as we will see a little bit later.

The clinic claims the laser from these helmets uses” light and power”  to regrow hair. and that it is clinically proven.

I actually went on the  the FDA website ( this is is the organisation that licences medical equipment in the US) ;  and I could not find any mention of a laser helmet.

in fact I couldn’t find any laser device for regrowing hair that was licensed by the FDA.

5. Hair thickening fibres

This is a tried and trusted solution for hair loss,  which uses fibres to cover bald areas.

They are most suited for people who want a quick temporary Cover up.

6. Shampoos/other products

Advanced Hair Studio also do a range of products including shampoos,  vitamins and creams.

Initial consultation

you get a complementary hair check with “a hair consultant”.

These people are not doctors, but some of them are qualified trichologists (qualified in managing hair issues but they are NOT necessarily medically qualified).

There is also the option of submitting an online consultation or or calling the clinic directly.

So in terms of access and ease of contact,  advanced Hair Studios do very well.

In the initial consultation you should also get  the price of your entire procedure.

I have read in forums that the initial consultation can be a little bit on the “salesy” side.

Customer reviews

I found it extremely difficult to find positive customer reviews  anywhere but on the company’s website and YouTube channel.

Almost all the other reviews i found on independent websites and forums were particularly negative.

People’s main complaint Was that the treatments just didn’t work,  particularly the lazer helmets.

Most people admitted their systems/wigs  were of good quality though.

Before and after results

The before and after pictures on the company’s websites are outstanding.

Advanced hair studio before and after results

Advanced hair studio before and after results
Here is a before and after result for one of the celebrity clients of advanced hair studio; former cricketer Darren Gough. I like the look of this. I still think it looks like a wig, but a very good one at that. It does look natural and well designed.

The results strongly suggest that what the clients are wearing are hair systems, i.e. wigs.

The hair density is incredible and the hairlines are flawless.

it is almost impossible to get results like that from anything other than wigs.

Controversies

Advanced Hair Studios have had several clashes with advertising authorities –  particularly the British ASA (advertising standards authority).

Let’s go through them briefly.

2002

The ASA Ban an advert claiming that you can “shower, swim and play Sports”  with one of advanced Hair Studios products ( presumably one of their wigs).

The ASA ordered them to remove the advert and only relaunch it once they make significant changes.

The founder, Carl Howell, vigorously defended his company and products but the ASA wouldn’t shift from their position.

2006

The ASA (again!)  demand the company removes an advert for an infrared hair growth device for breaking its rules.   Namely that it couldn’t claim it was clinically proven ; because it wasn’t.

“clinically proven” is a phrase that is abundantly available on the company website to this day (well, at the time of writing this post).

Cricket legend Graham Gooch tests one of advanced hair system’s products with a brush

2009

An advert fronted by Australian cricket legend Shane Warne  is banned.

The advert claimed that laser hair treatment was clinically proven to regrow hair.

That phrase again!

in all three cases the company put up  a stiff legal fight but all 3 complaints were upheld.

in all honesty this shows us that this company is trying to push treatments and devices that are not clinically proven.

And i suspect they do it because it’s a source of tremendous income for them.

3 banned adverts in 7 years cannot be a coincidence or a one-off.  It’s a deliberate attempt to test the edges of what is legal and what isn’t.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a hair system/wig , This company will probably do a good job for you.

They are experienced in this as they have been doing it for 45 years.

However if you are looking to to surgically resolve your hair loss problem then you need to go elsewhere.

Advanced hair studio have a good reputation for building excellent hair systems

This is not a hair transplant company and from what I can see they don’t even have medical people among their staff.

Also, if you are looking to regrow your hair using proven treatments,  this company is probably not for you.

I did not find any of their treatments were clinically proven to regrow hair.

And the fact that they have been slapped with three advertising bans testify to that.

I find myself asking the question:

“ Do I want to engage with a company,  that have been found guilty of misleading the public three times?”.

and my answer  would be “No”.

I would be better off going somewhere else even for a good wig!

Fantastically open and honest website, with excellent information throughout.

I particularly like how emphasis is given on educating clients on how to choose a good clinic and what to look out for.

Dr Bernstein believes that being honest with clients about their suitability for hair transplants is key.

The photo gallery is incredibly useful and educational too.

Overall, the impression you get is that this is a well established and ethical clinic.

You will likely get a realistic evaluation of your suitability for a hair transplant from Dr Bernstein. The fact that he turns down many candidates who aren't suitable shows a high level of professionalism.

dr feller clinic review

Interesting note that the clinic is now branded as “Feller & Bloxham”.  Clearly he has partnered with another colleague.

I don’t know much of Dr Bloxham and wasn’t able to find much on his work either.  So this section of the review will focus on Dr Feller.

Publications:

Yes.  Many dating back to the early 2000s.  He is also down as an inventor of certain hair transplant instruments.

ABHRS Membership:

Yes

Men & Women clients:

Possibly.  Just didn’t see any women featured in the photo gallery.  But there is a section which discusses female hair transplants in good detail.

So they probably do female hair transplants but in much fewer numbers than men.

Techniques used:

FUT and FUE.

Other services:

Unknown.  Didn’t see any other services mentioned on their website.

Hair transplant Cost:

A very nice summary is provided on the website of the potential cost at Dr Feller’s clinic.

dr feller cost

It appears the cost is structured and depends on the number of hair grafts.

The more grafts the more expensive.

It also appears FUE technique is much more expensive than FUT.

Photo-gallery:

Yes.  And just like with Dr Bernstein’s clinic, each case has notes and commentary which give further detail.

Incredibly useful.

Forum Feedback:

Very positive, and long standing.  Some posts from way back when!

Highlights:

This clinic is all about hair transplants.  They haven’t been tempted to branch out into other cosmetic areas which seems to be quite fashionable these days.

The website is transparent and informative.

I liked how they gave cost estimates which is quite rare for clinics.  They usually like to keep this under wraps!

Clearly Dr Feller is  leading pioneer in hair transplantation given his outstanding CV.

Dr Feller is a pioneer who has been around for decades. His clinic is transparent about cost of the hair transplant. He has a long history of positive feedback online
My summary

Dr True & Dr Dorin

Website:

Lead Surgeon :

Dr True & Dr Dorin

I must admit i wasn’t familiar with either doctor until i sat down to research this article.  But their names repeatedly came up in forums.  People clearly rated them.

And when i looked them i was also impressed.

They’re active on forums sharing case studies from as far back as 2009.

Publications:

No.  But they have been featured in magazines.

ABHRS Membership:

Yes

Men & Women clients:

Yes

Techniques used:

FUT, FUE, non-surgical such as PRP and laser light therapy.

Other services:

Eyebrow restoration and beard transplant.

Hair transplant Cost:

They don’t give definitive cost but they give a very broad range of $5000 – $15000 per single hair transplant session.

They also mention FUE is more expensive than FUT.

Photo-gallery:

Yes.

There are no detailed commentary like in the other 2 clinics, but the photos are absolutely pin sharp and beautiful.

There are also video case studies for some

Forum Feedback:

Excellent.  They are also active on forums themselves sharing case studies with readers.

Highlights:

What strikes you about the website of this clinic is how modern it is.  The layout and graphics are gorgeous.

Dr True and Dr Dorin have been around for years, so they clearly know what they’re doing.  They’re probably not as “forum famous” as some but they are outstanding professionals.

Dr True and Dr Dorin are probably not the most "famous" or established. But they have a consistent stream of excellent results behind them, as well as an extremely professional website.
My summary

How i researched this article - explanation of my criteria

  • Years active is used as an indication of longevity.  Bad clinics don’t usually last that long.

  • A great website is usually a good sign.

  • What are people saying about the clinic in hair transplant forums?

  • Photo galleries of former clients.  How good does the work look?

  • Is the surgeon publishing research papers.  This is a sign of academic excellence and leadership in his/her field.

  • Does the business have other branches? if they are expanding it’s a very good sign their first branch was a success.

  • ABHRS is the American society of hair restorative surgeons.  Membership of this shows the surgeon is at least recognised in the country as a hair transplant surgeon among colleagues.
